An amazing and eventful year 2013
I have had such an amazing year…so many things have happened since my Senior of the Year Award and Beyond Blue Category in November 2012.

After presenting at the AGM 2013, Kath was awarded life membership after years of support from WASS members.

I had a great response from many midwives at the conference who wish to go back to their communities to share the Undies for Understanding campaign. At the end of my presentation I invited 5 midwives and the President Graeme Boardley to hold up underpants and they sang the GYNae song. Ladies to the left, Ladies to the right – dont forget your GYNaemight. It was fun planting GYN health awareness seeds.
Community Gynaecological Health Awareness Consultation

This meeting was a great success, with many health leaders showing interest in how they can support the International GYN Awareness Day.
I am so excited about how things are progressing. At the meeting there was a 100% agreement that this day is very necessary and a commitment to support local events over the coming years.

Outcomes from the meeting:

Judith Parker agreed in principal to taking IGAD to the United Nations for approval as an International Day.

Agreement in principle for all gathered to complete a survey and give feedback on the project(s).

Advised to approach Govt Ministers for funding for all the projects over 3 years.

Agreement that the name stay the same.

Agreement that the focus of the day needs to be defined and around GYN health.

Agreement that our project is valid and necessary and there is a demand for it.

Interest in the concept of our workshops having booths for info sharing.

Graeme Boardley publicity declared his full support for our project and a commitment to support the project that goes forward.

Painted a bigger picture for the group so they can see where IGAD is headed and decide if it is in the same direction as they or their group represented want to head.
