International Gynaecological Awareness Day celebration – progress

Well what a lead up to the Gynaecological Awareness Day with momentum forging ahead.  What’s most exciting was the collaboration with Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology acknowledging and sharing links of women’s issues.

“Today is International Gynaecological Awareness Day, and we’d like to highlight the emotional, social and psychological impacts of living with a gynaecological condition. Persistent pelvic pain, for instance, can have a profound impact on many aspects of life and functioning, affecting a woman’s identity, ability to be intimate and the capacity to have and care for children. Learn more with this O&G Mag article: https://www.ogmagazine.org.au/21/2-21/the-stigma-of-pain/ #IGAD

#IGAD While pain is part of our working lives, coping with distressed patients may seem overwhelming. This article provides suggestions to enhance and support your management of patients with chronic pain, anxiety and depression: https://www.ogmagazine.org.au/20/3-20/mental-health-and-pelvic-pain/

#IGAD Perinatal mental health difficulties related to depression, anxiety and trauma are more common than often thought. Such difficulties are likely to recur in other pregnancies, can become chronic and have long-term consequences for the mother, her infant and relationships with others: “https://www.ogmagazine.org.au/20/3-20/birth-trauma-and-post-traumatic-stress-disorder-ptsd/

People from around the world have also joined in the IGAD campaign. Please share this link to encourage others to celebrate #IGAD2020.

Soroptimist International Convention 2019 Gynaecological awareness

What an opportunity to share my 25 years of lobbying for community Gynaecological health awareness. Cant say I wasn’t nervous to present to 1,000 women at this Soroptimist International convention however I cannot thank Robyn Cain and the President of Soroptimist International Anusha Santhirasthipam for believing in my work. This then led to an Undies for Better Understanding cardboard cut out undies workshop Dare to be Gynae Aware to South West Pacific Soroptimist Clubs to encourage them to start the conversations.

Vulvar Cancer Awareness Launch Italy

  #VIVALAVULVA …………

A huge shout out to the organisers and Medical professionals to bring launch this day. As a survivor of a radical vulvectomy 25 years ago I am more than elated about this. I simply don’t want 1 more women to have to endure this without have the knowledge to protect themselves. www.issvd.org/event/vulvar-cancer-awareness-day LET’S KEEP THIS THING MOVING

Zonta Dinner 2019 presentation

As recipient of Zonta Women of Achievement Award 2005 and receiving great support from Zonta over the years it was great to see other leaders standing up and sharing the importance of gynaecological health at my presentation at this Zonta dinner, below is their response.  I look forward to see progress in the global community.

Zonta Club of Perth Northern Suburbs Inc
At our Club dinner on Wednesday night, our guest speaker, Kath Mazzella OAM, spoke on a very interesting topic “Up Front & Personnel” on gynaecological health. Women’s gynaecological health should be discussed as an awareness sake for other women and that we should not be afraid or ashamed to talk about.

You can learn more about her desire to speak up for the millions of voiceless women, the ones who suffer in silence with Endometriosis, Polycystic Ovaries, Fibroids, GYN Cancers, Infertility, Prolapse Uterus, and so many more Gynaecological and Sexual Health conditions through this link: https://www.kathmazzella.com/

6PR Radio interview with Chris Ilsley – breaking taboos GYN health

Its taboo —— What can we dooo. Open conversations too.

I was so fortunate to find a radio personality who seemed to really hit the nail on the head with this interview about the taboos surrounding Gynaecological health awareness flash mob photo shoot. Photos still not in from photographer. It was great to see those attend to support the cause.

I love turning on lights for those who are ready to receive this message. Thanks Chris for your wonderful open conversations. I hope you gained a lot from it. https://www.fonodio.com/share/wp8zoxm80r7bqjnl/y068w3eq44o3zpa4/eplvjmdp9kjm9x75
