International Gynaecological Awareness Day celebration – progress

Well what a lead up to the Gynaecological Awareness Day with momentum forging ahead.  What’s most exciting was the collaboration with Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology acknowledging and sharing links of women’s issues.

“Today is International Gynaecological Awareness Day, and we’d like to highlight the emotional, social and psychological impacts of living with a gynaecological condition. Persistent pelvic pain, for instance, can have a profound impact on many aspects of life and functioning, affecting a woman’s identity, ability to be intimate and the capacity to have and care for children.  #IGAD While pain is part of our working lives, coping with distressed patients may seem overwhelming. This article provides suggestions to enhance and support your management of patients with chronic pain, anxiety and depression: https://www.ogmagazine.org.au/20/3-20/mental-health-and-pelvic-pain/

#IGAD Perinatal mental health difficulties related to depression, anxiety and trauma are more common than often thought. Such difficulties are likely to recur in other pregnancies, can become chronic and have long-term consequences for the mother, her infant and relationships with others: “https://www.ogmagazine.org.au/20/3-20/birth-trauma-and-post-traumatic-stress-disorder-ptsd/

Gynaecological Awareness Information Network Inc. (GAIN) 20 year celebration

Twenty years ago I established GAIN after gathering like minded woman who could see the big picture and need to give voice to women suffering in silence.  Today I  am a separate identity to GAIN and wish to congratulate Catherine Aurubind and her team at GAIN Inc for keeping on keeping and making it the success it is today.  Given the Health Minister Roger Cook and MLA for Morley Amber-Jade Sanderson spoke in parliament house discussing Gynaecological Health awareness.  I seek others to support GAIN in there endeavours in the future.

The future hopefully with more of a division between Reproductive Health ie having babies and Gynaecological Health women’s conditions.

I wish to also thank King Edward Memorial Hospital and Associate Professor Graeme Boardley for their support over many years.

Gynaecological Awareness Day Celebrated on 10 September

As a Gynaecological Cancer survivor and recognizing millions of women with GYN and related mental health issues, I am pleased to say the world is changing.

After 25 years of lobbying as an advocate to create a voice and conversations for global women enduring Gynaecological Health issues the time is now right to celebrate our magnificent bodies and our cycle of life.   So now I encourage you to forward this flyer far and wide to use cardboard cut out undies as a tool to promote “Undies for Better Understanding”  and create a community groundswell to give women and men greater opportunities to help save lives or life time health complications.

Celebrate the International Gynaecological Awareness Day in your corner of the globe. It’s easy! All you need to do is create a cardboard cut out undies shape and decorate them. Then hang them somewhere prominent and have a conversation with people about gynaecology and related mental health issues.

The conversation could go something like this…

…Happy Gynae Day.
…Do you like my undies?
…Where’s your undies?
…You show me yours and I’ll show you mine (cardboard undies of course)

You could put your undies…
– On the back of a toilet door
– On the work noticeboard
– On the kiosk wall at school
– On the university noticeboard
– On the shopping centre noticeboard
– On the table at the next meeting
– On the work fridge
– On the home fridge
– On the shop window
– On the reading table in waiting rooms
– On your car window

The list is endless.

Business owners…promote your business by obtaining some undies from Kath Mazzella and adding your business information to the back. You can hand out to customers and demonstrate your support of women all around the globe who are living with gynaecological and associated mental health challenges.

Think about it…

Every person, male or female, has a woman in their world somewhere. Guaranteed, that woman will face a gynaecological challenge of some sort at some point in their life. Show her you care by being a listening ear, showing her you have her back and stand with women in their time of need.

If you are an action person – gather people and host an event. Find out more by visiting http://www.kathmazzella.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/IGAD-Flier-Kit-Smallest.pdf
